Non-Motorized Travel

To promote safe walking and bicycling as travel options, the Palm Beach MPO offers the following:


The Palm Beach MPO has provided transportation planning and allocated federal funding for an extensive network of roadways throughout Palm Beach County.


The Palm Beach MPO plans for the efficient movement of people and goods, and participates in the production of freight studies.


There are two main rail corridors running through Palm Beach County, the Florida East Coast (FEC) railway corridor and the CSX railway corridor, a portion of which is owned by the Florida Dept. of Transportation for use by Tri-Rail commuter trains.  


The Palm Beach MPO provides support for Palm Beach County’s airports including Palm Beach International Airport (PBI), which is represented by Palm Beach County Commissioners appointed to the Palm Beach MPO Governing Board, and by staff representatives on the MPO’s Technical Advisory Committee. 


Palm Tran is Palm Beach County's Public Transportation provider for fixed route passenger bus service. The Palm Beach MPO works closely with Palm Tran to improve the transit system and provide funding assistance for capital investments in Palm Tran facilities and equipment, including shelters and infrastructure to accommodate system users. 

Port of Palm Beach

The Port of Palm Beach District is an independent special taxing district, a sub-division of the state of Florida. Established under the provisions of the Laws of Florida, Acts of 1915, Chapter 7081, as amended and supplemented, the Port District is located in Palm Beach County, Florida. It covers a land area of 971 square miles or approximately 50% of the county area
