October is National Pedestrian Safety Month

Everyone is a Pedestrian

October 2020 is designated
by the USDOT as the first-ever

National Pedestrian Safety Month

Click to learn more.

Recognizing that pedestrians are our most vulnerable road users, the U.S. Department of Transportation has designated the month of October as the first-ever National Pedestrian Safety Month. The number of pedestrian fatalities has increased over the past decade. It is important to remember that everyone is a pedestrian at one time or another, especially now as more people are walking. The USDOT and safety partners work year-round to reduce these deaths, and educate all road users on pedestrian safety. The TPA supports these efforts as we strive toward #VisionZero to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

In October, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and Federal Highway Administration will increase traffic safety awareness for pedestrians and drivers.
