Draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP)
Fiscal Years 2022 - 2026
The TPA is currently soliciting public comments on its draft Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for the upcoming five fiscal years. Go to PalmBeachTPA.org/TIP to review the draft TIP and offer comments using a convenient online public comment form.
National Bicycle Month Recap
The TPA staff enjoyed celebrating National Bicycle Month throughout May with group rides during lunch breaks, biking to work and participating in the Florida Love to Ride Challenge (results coming in the next issue!). Best Workplaces for Commuters Applications Open
Applications for new Best Workplaces for Commuters will open on June 1, 2021 until November 30, 2021 for the 2022 list. Apply to join Palm Beach TPA as we change the way America commutes!
Walk Friendly and Bicycle Friendly Community Designations
The TPA encourages local governments to pursue Walk Friendly and Bicycle Friendly designations. Local businesses can also pursue Bicycle Friendly Business designations. Bike Friendly Business applications are due June 10th and Bike Friendly Community applications are due August 5th.
Walk Friendly Community applications are due June 15th.
Community Mobility Design Challenge 2021 Grants
Nonprofit and government agencies that are federal funding recipients or subrecipients may apply for grants of up to $25,000 to create innovative mobility solutions for community members who face transportation barriers in advancing their personal well-being. Safety Funding Available for Law Enforcement
FDOT has funding available for law enforcement agencies to conduct High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) operations to improve pedestrian and bicyclist safety. Requests for contract proposals will be accepted until funds are exhausted. Learn more at AlertTodayFlorida.com/HVE.
Funding for Transit Planning to Address Climate Change
The U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced the availability of approximately $10 million in competitive grant funds. The funds will support comprehensive planning efforts that help connect communities, improve access to public transportation and affordable housing and address climate change. The deadline to apply is June 21, 2021. Learn more here.
RAISE Discretionary Grant Funding Available
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has made available $1 billion in discretionary grant funding through the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity grants. Transportation projects that prioritize racial equity, reducing impacts of climate change and job creation are preferred. The deadline to apply is July 12, 2021. The Journey Forward: Equity in Transportation Planning

HVE Enforcement Roundtable Meeting
The next round of pedestrian and bicycle high visibility enforcement (HVE) funding will become available on July 1. A roundtable meeting will take place on June 8 from 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Training Center in West Palm Beach. TPA Governing Board and advisory committee meetings are currently being held as a combination of in-person meetings at the TPA office and virtual meetings on the Zoom webinar platform. To accommodate social distancing, there will be limited space for in-person attendees. Please review the guidance at the top of each meeting agenda.
