Quiet Zones Now in Effect in West Palm Beach,
Lake Worth, Delray Beach, Lantana, Hypoluxo and Boca Raton

Railroad crossing

Quiet Zones are now in effect along much of the FEC rail corridor, meaning both passenger and freight trains do not routinely blow horns. While the elimination of train horns except in emergencies will improve quality of life for surrounding communities, it is critical for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to stay out of the rail corridor at all times except at designated crossings when gates are in the open position.

Work continues on installation of Supplemental Safety Measures (SSMs) in Boynton Beach. The Palm Beach TPA provided funding for the SSMs required for Quiet Zone eligibility at the option of each local jurisdiction.
