TPA Governing Board members cut a ribbon to celebrate the new TPA office as they begin their first meeting in the building on Feb. 20. The office is located at 301 Datura St., West Palm Beach, FL 33401, at the NW corner of Olive Ave.

SR-7 Extension Added to Long Range Transportation Plan

TPA Governing Board meeting held 2/20/2020 at the TPA office, 301 Datura St., West Palm Beach, FL 33401.

Two related projects that would extend SR-7 to Northlake Blvd. were added back to the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) by the adoption of Amendment 1 on February 20, at a regularly scheduled meeting of the TPA Governing Board. The projects had been removed during adoption of the LRTP on Dec. 12, 2019. 

Approximately 150 members of the public packed the TPA Board Room plus two overflow rooms with a live broadcast. Many attendees spoke during public comments, and more than 1,200 submitted online comments in the weeks prior to the meeting. Letters, resolutions, and online comments were provided for the Board's consideration prior to the meeting.

TPA Group Bike Ride - March 20

TPA Bike-to-Work Day Group Ride on March 20, 2020

The annual TPA Bike-to-Work Day Ride on Friday, March 20, will begin at the West Palm Beach Intermodal station on Tamarind Avenue. Bring your bike aboard a Tri-Rail train or Palm Tran bus to join the group for a scenic bike commute including the Flagler Drive waterfront. The ride will end at the Bike-to-Work Day celebration at the West Palm Beach City Hall courtyard, where the TPA will be among the exhibitors. Click for a map and additional details. City of West Palm Beach Bike-to-Work Week - March 16-20

City of West Palm Beach Bike-to-Work Week, March 16-20, 2020

The TPA will again participate in various activities of the annual Bike-to-Work Week in the City of West Palm Beach, currently in its 7th year. West Palm Beach events will include bike fix-it stations, a bike safety lunch and learn, a bike-in movie, and group bike rides to a Bike-to-Work Day celebration in the City Hall courtyard.  Click for the flyer with dates, locations, and event sponsors. Westgate Bike Rodeo - March 14

As has been the case for several years, the TPA will participate as an exhibitor in the annual Bike Rodeo held at the Westgate Park Recreation Center in suburban West Palm Beach. The event is hosted by Palm Beach County Parks & RecreationClick for the 2-page event flyer in English and Spanish.


AARP Community Challenge Application Deadline - April 1

The AARP Community Challenge provides small grants to fund "quick-action" projects to help communities become more livable for people of all ages. For more information, visit AARP.org/CommunityChallenge.


Palm Beach County Mobility Planning Summit - April 1

Palm Beach County is hosting a mobility planning summit on April 1, from 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. The summit seeks to bring together a select group of transportation and planning professionals, representatives from city and county governments and private businesses that are committed to setting clear goals and measurable outcomes to overcome impending transportation challenges.


SE Florida Transportation Summit - April 22

A regional summit will take place on April 22, from 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, at Le Meridien, 1825 Griffin Road, Dania Beach, FL 33004. The goal is to bring members of the private and public sectors together from Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties to discuss establishing a shared vision for the future of transportation in our region. For more information and to register, go to FTLChamber.com/Transportation

Recent Events

Safe Streets Summit

With close to 500 participants, the 7th annual Safe Streets Summit was held the first week of February in Fort Lauderdale. Mobile workshop participants walked, biked, rode scooters, buses and water trolleys to tour Fort Lauderdale and its neighboring cities on Feb. 6. The conference day, on Feb. 7, featured internationally known keynote speakers and breakout sessions. The regional event is jointly hosted by the Miami-Dade TPO, the Broward MPO, and the Palm Beach TPA, with assistance from Urban Health Partnerships and the support of many sponsors. The event location rotates between the three counties. The next Safe Streets Summit will be held in West Palm Beach for the second time in early 2021. Later this year, watch for a call for speakers and sponsor opportunities for 2021.

Transportation Disadvantaged Public Workshop

February 12 - As administrators for the Transportation Disadvantaged Local Coordinating Board (LCB), the TPA hosted an annual public workshop immediately following an LCB quarterly meeting. Attendees met in small groups that rotated around the room to ask questions and provide input about Palm Tran Connection and transportation services available to the disabled, elderly, low-income, or others who are unable to transport themselves or to purchase transportation and are therefore dependent on others to obtain access to health care, employment, education, shopping, social activities, or other life-sustaining activities, or children who are handicapped or high-risk.

Alliance of Delray Expo

February 7 - More than 450 people attended the first Get to Know Palm Beach County Expo hosted by the Alliance of Delray Residential Associations. The TPA was among approximately 40 exhibitors.


West Palm Beach Vision Zero Safety Fair

February 1 - The TPA participated as an exhibitor in the Vision Zero Safety Fair hosted by the City of West Palm Beach, adjacent to the popular GreenMarket. Volunteers from Palm Beach Gardens High School helped solicit signatures on a new TPA pledge to encourage drivers to slow down and drive safely.

TPA Hosted Transit Peer Exchange

January 17 - The TPA hosted an FTA/FHWA Transit Peer Exchange on enhanced transit that brought together local officials and transit planners with their peers from Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ. Click to view a video that was shared at the exchange to highlight the impacts of 26 miles of light rail transit connecting Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa, AZ. Participants included Palm Tran, Valley Metro (Phoenix, AZ), Cap Metro (Austin, TX) and several in-state transit agencies.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend all meetings of these Boards and committees, as well as ad hoc committee meetings or workshops publicly noticed on PalmBeachTPA.org. They will be given opportunities to ask questions or make comments on any agenda item, or to offer general comments that are relevant to the mission and responsibilities of the TPA.
