Florida Bicycle Month Community Member Highlights

We also spent this past month speaking with different community members about their experiences bicycling in Palm Beach County. See what they had to say below.

"Coming from Chicago, I’ve been absolutely loving the variety of terrain south Florida has to offer. I bike everywhere, but I especially enjoy exploring the parks and zooming past gators and all kinds of other animals on my bike.

My bike is my vehicle by necessity and preference, and I’m grateful to all cars that stay 3 feet away."

- Magda G., West Palm Beach Resident

"I bicycle because...

  • It’s way more fun than driving!
  • It’s good for me and for the environment
  • I want to show people that you can use a bicycle for transportation
  • It saves me lots of money each year"

- Raphael Clemente, West Palm Beach Resident

"I LOVE that I can bike year round in Palm Beach County.

However, I frequently feel uneasy biking due to the lack of connected bicycle facilities. I’d really appreciate safer routes to help me get to more destinations."

- Brian Ruscher, West Palm Beach Resident

"There is nothing quite like taking in your surroundings while cycling, instead of whizzing by in a car, where everything is a blur. On a bike, you see more nature and more of our community.

It also allows you to see how much work we have ahead of us, to properly connect our region with safe cycling routes."

- Chelsea Reed, Palm Beach Gardens City Councilmember

"Growing up I would bike to the beach, and now I bike to more places like the office, grocery store, post office, and restaurants. It is so cool to see our community from the bike lanes and sidewalks. But it has also been scary biking in the bike lanes with 4 lanes of traffic."

- Joanna Peluso, Jupiter Resident
