COVID-19 Impacts on Local Traffic

What a difference a few weeks have made in the amount of traffic on local roadways! The second week of March, shown on the left side of the chart below, was typical of the usual volume of traffic along Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach. By comparison, the right side shows a marked reduction in vehicles for all times of the day by the second week of April. Traffic countywide is down more than 40%. Click for a PDF of the chart below.

The drastic reduction in traffic is a direct result of executive and local orders related to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Permanent traffic counters are maintained by the Palm Beach County Engineering Department and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT)Click here for more FDOT information on traffic counts.

Public Comment Opportunity: Unified Planning Work Program

The TPA is currently soliciting public comments on its draft Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for Fiscal Years 2021 and 2022. The UPWP serves as the TPA's business plan, budget and application for federal grant funds for a two-year period. Its development is guided by the TPA's mission and vision and adopted by the TPA Governing Board. The UPWP includes a description of all tasks and identifies the deliverables or outcomes that will be provided, who will perform the work, the schedules for completion and the budget and funding sources. Go to PalmBeachTPA.org/UPWP to review the draft UPWP and offer comments using a convenient online public comment form.
