"Love Your Streets" will be the theme of the next regional Safe Streets Summit where as many as 400 local government officials, urban and transportation planners and engineers, and community advocates will gather. National experts will speak on topics related to achieving complete streets that are friendly and comfortable for all users including pedestrians, bicyclists and transit riders.

Live.Ride.Share.Miami Mobility Summit - Aug. 25

Miami-Dade County will host the annual Live Ride Share mobility summit on August 25, 2017, in partnership with the National Resources Defense Council. Building on the success of summits in Los Angeles and Denver, Live.Ride.Share.Miami will bring together local and national transportation and mobility leaders to discuss new technologies and new mobility options. Panelists from cities on the cutting edge will discuss successful strategies and new opportunities that can help our region become a national leader in mobility innovation. National "Faces of Transportation" Photo & Video Contest

Deadline for entries is Aug. 25

The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) is accepting photo and video entries for this 12th annual competition that offers cash prizes. Three series of public events remain for the MPO's mobility study to recommend improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and transit users along the US-1 corridor. Each begins with a Saturday workshop, followed by three weekday open house design charrettes, and ending with a final presentation. Check the project website for complete details.

National Walk to School Day - Oct. 4

International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day.   • All Aboard Florida/ Brightline Rail Construction
    Construction continues on all three of All Aboard Florida's south Florida train stations including the West Palm Beach station where Brightline service is scheduled to begin this year.
  • Southern Blvd. Bridge Replacement Construction
    This project, which began in April 2017, includes replacing the existing bascule (draw) bridge and tide relief bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Worth Lagoon between the Town of Palm Beach and the City of West Palm Beach. New decorative lighting, pedestrian features, traffic signals, signage and drainage are included. A temporary bridge will be built north of the existing bridge to maintain traffic while the replacement bascule bridge is under construction. Construction is scheduled to last until late 2020.
